Now that I'm away from home and I've been forced to make due with what I could fit in my luggage bag, it made me wonder what I forgot that I either realized that I really needed, or didn't even notice that was missing. Then the idea hit me: there are always things I would rarely leave behind, things I can't live without. Mind you, these aren't in any particular order!
1. Phone: not being able to make calls normally because I'm abroad has been challenging. I can only text other Apple owners while using Wi-Fi as my life line so I've had to get creative in ways to reach some of my friends.
2. Creativity: Being an artsy person as I am, being creative is my bread and butter. But when I don't have it, it really messes with my mood. Even something as simple as a coloring book or doing origami would lift my mood all together. It really sucks sitting in front of my computer with nothing worth creating. Building new worlds is what I live for. Creating new characters and exploring their lives and personalities along the way is so rewarding to me.
3. Nook: My trusty nook! Oh where would I be without my bookshelf in a back pocket? I have almost 1000 books at my fingertips, in a device that is lighter than my own cell phone. So handy and travel friendly.
4. Chocolate: When you're happy, eat some chocolate. When you're sad, eat some chocolate. When you're bored, eat some chocolate... Wait a minute, have I been eating too much chocolate?! Oh silly me, there's no such thing! Almost scared myself there for a moment. *hides in the kitchen to eat more chocolate*
5. Laptop & Cable: This is my work's lively hood. How else can I post and build my site up while I travel? (Plus I watch a LOT of YouTube when the ideas run dry and I need some entertainment! Oh and NETFLIX!)
6. Coffee: I'm not addicted (though I know that's what addicted people would say...) but I'm serious. I'm not dependent on it to the point where if I miss one I'll get withdraws or anything. However, I can't deny the positive effects it has on me emotionally when I need to prepare myself for something. Nothing else compares to it! *FYI* Caramel Iced Latte from Dunkin' Donuts is my kryptonite. (whip cream on top!)
7. Music: This one is something anyone that knows me can list off the top of their heads. I can't live without music. My mother knows I'm truly sick or ill when I don't sing along with the radio or when I can't even listen to it. THAT'S the point where she actually gets worried. Music helps me write, think, decompress, express myself, and so much more. Music is life.
8. Chicken & Cheese: Okay maybe not together...or on second thought... Chicken Parmigiana sounds perfect right now... *stomach growls*... My diet varies but let's be honest, chicken makes up for 89% of what I eat. And cheese makes up for about 10%, everything else falls under the 1% that is left over.
9. Dukee: My forever puppy, my baby, and fluffy half. I've had my dog since I was 11 years old. He's been by my side for so long that the thought of being parted from him always stings. But reality is, sooner than later, eventually our roads will part ways, but he will always be in my heart. I love my dog forever.
10. Last but NOT least, My Family: I wouldn't even exist if it weren't for them. My parents raised me to be the woman that I am now. They exposed me to different things, shaping the way I see the world. I received the most support possible from them and my family as I try to achieve my goal to become an author. I can't live without you guys in my life.
