Since I've been there twice now, once in 2012 and again last year 2017, I already have a head start on my bucket list. I love this country, hence one of the reasons I've chosen this place to make my future home in. The first time I went I spent three days in Amsterdam. Honestly, it was love at first sight. Before that trip, I'd never been to Europe before.
Naturally I loved the design of the city, with canals cutting through it like ribbons, stone brick streets, and houses that looked like history trapped in resin. There was this happiness in the atmosphere. I managed to take some awesome pictures and I learned basics about their culture and history.
Right off the bat I saw a dog on top of a motorcycle with his owner, and honestly, it was one of the most bad ass things I've ever seen. *snapshot*
We walked through the city and got to see many awesome places; like cafe shops, restaurants, canal cruises and even the red light district! Not gonna lie, I was a bit shocked when I saw family tours going through there! Really made me open my eyes about differences in our cultures and how we pretend to be so censored (although if you're not blind you can see clearly how our own media here in the states is saturated with sexual innuendos and symbolism).
There were so many markets too, but the one that caught my attention the most was this beautiful flower market. All the flowers were in full bloom and the entire tent was therefore filled with color and the sweetest smell. I wish I could of bought them all! *snapshot*
I went to this cheese factory in a different town and they showed us the process behind making cheese and I got to taste many different types, there were even different colors! Spicy or sweet, dry or smooth, creamy, or impossibly hard. Honestly I didn't know there were so many types of cheese!
There was another town we visited that was full of windmills, and it was a gorgeous environment. There was green space and water all over. I think that was one of my highlights from that trip! *snapshot*
Once it was time to head to Paris, France, we took one of those bullet trains to get there. The train station was huge: Amsterdam Central. I noticed how the trains were like veins, and you could reach any major area from that station if we wanted to. And the fact we could just leave from here to go to Paris was very cool! *double snapshot*
Tune in for my Journal Entry on Rotterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, and then another entry for my Paris adventure!
