There is a poetry workbook that was given to me by a family friend many years ago. It has a very cool concept: each page has a title for your main theme of your poem along with eight words that have to be incorporated into it. You can also use those words for inspiration if needed but I like the challenge of using the words as puzzle pieces to put together my poem. This is the first one I do and will continue to post different challenge based publications including my unfinished “Building Worlds in 31 days” (#BW31) challenge every Friday until they are completed.
This one is called “A Work of Art”
- Portrait
- Brushstrokes
- Texture
- Color
- Craft
- Landscape
- Shade
- Light
The portrait hangs alone on the wall,
Light has been cast on it to draw your gaze to it.
The rest of the wall is bare,
Dedicating all of its space to this singular piece.
As you approach it is hard to ignore,
Every brushstroke a caress on the canvas.
It has textures that make you itch to feel,
Your fingers tingle with wonder.
The shades melted within the landscape,
Making it truly breathtaking.
It almost seems that the colors have life,
Making the painting take breaths of its own.
What a craft the painter must have,
To make such a work of Art.
I love it! I need to get one of those books lol
