Winter #FlashPoetry

My favorite time of year has arrived once again! Can't wait to have my first Christmas with my new family. Alec will be too small to remember his first, but I'll make sure to take many pictures so he knows. Happy Holidays everyone! May this season be filled with blessing and love to all who this post reaches.

Yule is upon us once again!

The leaves have fallen,

and the first hints of frost can be seen.

Your breath floats behind every word you speak,

and the chill in the air finds its way in.

The evergreen trees are ready for harvest,

as were the pumpkins just months before.

We welcome them into our homes,

to bring in warmth and jolliness once more.

Logs are stocked up into neat piles,

ready to be used at any time.

We gather around the fireside,

and share tales of magic and love.

Celebrations and songs fill the air,

with sparkling lights and decore everywhere.

Just this once, the world is joined together,

different cultures, religions, and languages merge.

Festivities mark the calendar,

spreading gifts and wishes to all.

The Winter Solstice occurs,

marking the shortest night,

but that simply means that with every passing day,

we will have more light.

Snow comes and threatens that warmth,

reminding us of the harsh arctic winds from the North.

But it also brings fun and excitement,

as kids sleigh, build igloos, and throw snowballs all around.

We miss the heat,

but just briefly,

we enjoy the Winter.
