Seasons come and go,

a cycle of endless changes.

The rains came and went,

the sun warmed us,

and now the sweater weather has arrived.

Time to replace the shorts,

and unpack our scarves again.

Autumn brings a new age,

with different experiences.

Don't blink,

you might miss it.

The green foliage starts to change,

becoming an assortment of colors.

Reds, oranges, yellows, and browns,

decorating the landscape of New England.

Yummy foods come into harvest,

providing us with juicy apples,

begging to be made into cider.

Plump pumpkins and squashes,

mashed into delicious pies.

Sweet potatoes and corn,

dessert or main course?

Up to you to decide,

but it's enough to fill our cornucopia,

just in time for Thanksgiving.

Gather what you can,

soon the branches will become bare,

and death of the colors will spread.

Leaves will litter the ground,

providing life for the next cycle.

Stay alert when the days get shorter,

for the magic has arrived.

Jack-o-lanterns will light the way,

trick or treaters will follow them seeking sweets.

Spooky times bring new energy,

adding a little hocus pocus to your night.

Enjoy the fall while you can,

because the sleigh bells can be heard in the distance.
